It is quite simple these days to take care of your sweet cravings. If you are like us, you would probably head out to the nearest bakery and enjoy any of the sweets you want. You can also have it delivered to your doorstep, too. It is almost effortless to make anyone’s sweet tooth happy.
But what happens when you are having someone over that you are trying to impress? Everyone knows what those store sweets taste like, and they will know that you didn’t put too much time or effort into being the host. Getting something home-made especially because they are visiting is a great opportunity to show them that you care and that you would love to spend more time with them.
Preferably, next time, in a restaurant, though. Just so that you don’t have to go through the trouble again anytime soon. There is a very probable issue of you not really finding your way around the kitchen that much – no judgment from here, whatsoever. Or, you have a full-time job and you don’t really have the time to waste preparing something you could have easily bought on your way home from work. Yet, sometimes, you just have to soldier through it.
So, there are people you care about coming over for dinner, unannounced or last-minute announced. How do you prepare food, clean the entire house by stuffing stuff out of sight, and whip something up that you can get compliments for? You know you have to, and the headache is real.
Let us help you out: it is very much possible. Your dog can help with cleaning, and we can help by sharing with you three desserts you can whip up as effortlessly as possible. They take an incredibly short time to prepare, and you are unlikely to mess them up because they are super simple.
Oatmeal cakes are the first on our list because they are rather cheap and practically impossible to mess up. Trust us, we tried messing this recipe up and failed miserably at it. You don’t have to have any special dishes for preparing this either, one pot and some parchment paper. You probably have the fridge, too.
The ingredients you need to get this crunchy treat ready is 2 sticks of butter, a cup of granulated sugar or two spoons of honey, one black chocolate bar, and some old-school oatmeal. Let’s admit it, half of these you probably already have in your pantry.
The first step is melting the butter sticks together with the dark chocolate in the pot over medium heat. This won’t take long, especially if you make sure to chop or break chocolate into smaller pieces. Add a cup of granulated sugar, or add two spoons of honey. Add half a cup of milk, and bring to boil for one minute.
Take the pan off the heat, and pour in oatmeals. Do this step in stages, adding and stirring them until they mesh properly and each oatmeal is covered in chocolate. With your spoon, scoop a cake, and pour it onto the parchment paper, or fill in a smaller cupcake cup for more bling and cleaner fingers. This is the longest part of making these. Stuff them into your fridge and let them cool or harden. If you are in a pinch, you can put them in the freezer, and they will be ready for serving in about 15 minutes.
No mess and perfect results every time. Crunch away!
Oreo cookie balls
Another simple and fast recipe that will make you popular at parties. We can all attest that there is nothing better than Oreos, except maybe, additional chocolate on Oreos.
Not only this recipe is super simple, but it can also make your guest feel like they are expected, and that you have put your thoughts and efforts into hosting them. They surely don’t need to know that it took you just a couple of minutes to get these ready in the first place!
Similar to the previous one, you don’t need a bunch of ingredients, or get too much of your kitchenware dirty. What you need to get these sweet desserts on the table is one package of Oreos, a package of cream cheese and a package of chocolate chips. For additional bling, you can also use some sprinkles. If you are having a party, just double or triple the ingredients. If you want to make some more to enjoy them on your own later, we get it, no worries.
Use your food processor to create fine crumbs out of your Oreo cookies. From there, get a big bowl, and mix these crumbs with softened cream cheese. Make sure that the ingredients are evenly combined. Next, you should use a small scoop to form tiny balls, and then line them up on the parchment paper you previously put on your baking sheet.
From here, it takes them a bit of time in the freezer. Usually, about 15 minutes in there will do the trick, and they will be slightly hardened. If it takes them a bit more, so be it. In the meantime, you should melt that package of chocolate chips. When the balls are frozen, dip them in it until they are coated in chocolate, and line them back on the baking sheet.
Now it is time to decorate. You may use the sprinkles to make them more eye-pleasing, but you can also leave out two tablespoons of Oreo crumbs out of the mixture, and use them to sprinkle on the melted chocolate. Once they are fully decorated and you are happy with how it looks, put your delicious desserts back into the freezer for another 15 minutes for the chocolate to hardens. Then, they will be up to the task to make some guests happy!
Strawberry and Wafers Lasagna
Everybody loves lasagna, and it is soon to be a strawberry season. Have you ever combined these two together? It is heavenly!
This dessert might take a bit more time to get ready. Truth is, making it actually takes about 20 minutes. The issue here might be that it takes three hours at least to refrigerate. Still, if you are having guests over, and you have a bunch of other stuff to prepare for their arrival, you can whip this one up first, and then focus on the actual meal.
While it takes a bit to get ready, it requires only 5 ingredients. Add in a pan, mixing bowl and a hand mixer to prepare. In essence, there will not be a bunch of dishes that could get in your way while you are trying to get everything set up.
In the bowl we mentioned, which should be rather large, you want to beat 4 cups of heavy cream, two tablespoons of pure vanilla extract and half a cup of powdered sugar. Make sure to get a bit more sugar as we will need it later. Slice one pound of strawberries into thin slices, and get one and a half box of wafers of your preference ready.
Now you need to assemble the lasagna and create the lovable layers of it. Start with the cream from the bowl in a thin layer, and then create a layer of wafers on top of it. The cream will make sure they stay in formation and not slide all over the place. Go for another, thick layer of cream on top of them. Next, add a layer of strawberries.
Continue until you are out of ingredients, but it would be nice, aesthetically, to finish with strawberries on top. You can add a bit of crunched wafers on top, too. This will help with wowing your guests.
The lasagna is now ready for the fridge. As mentioned earlier, it might take some time, because you want the wafers you used to get soft and to complement the cream and strawberries properly. If that is more convenient for you, you can create this masterpiece in the evening and let it sit in overnight.
When you are ready to serve it, sprinkle it a bit on top with some additional powdered sugar!
Make sure to enjoy it yourself!
As you can tell, each of these is extremely simple to make. They don’t require a bunch of ingredients, time, or even an oven! Any of these will look awesome on Instagram, your guest will be delighted and impressed with your cooking skills, and you can save some of it to reward yourself for a job well done!
